fire extinguisher servicing in coventry
During an annual basic service, an extinguisher is inspected depending on type. We look at correct pressure, weight of the cartridge and signs of corrosion or damage. We look at all the extinguisher parts such as hoses, valves, pressure gauges, safety devices and mechanisms, to ensure they work properly, and replace ‘o’rings, anti-tamper seals and safety pins/clips.
Most fires are preventable. By law, employers should ensure there are reasonable steps in place to tackle fires in the workplace and ensure occupants can escape if a fire does occur. The law states there should be a legal obligation for a ‘competent person’ to annually service the fire extinguishers in accordance with British Standard Code of Practice 5306 - Part 3 – 2009. Also, all extinguishers must be maintained and in working order in between the services. Areas to look out for are: signs of water, foam or powder discharge from the hose of an extinguisher, missing tamper tags or pins, gauges showing low pressure, rust, or any damage. If you have any concerns, Bell Fire & Safety will be able to advise.
Bell Fire & Safety can advise on a refill, service or replacement, depending on requirements, on all portable fire extinguishers. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at Bell Fire & Safety.
